Brookside County Park Outdoor Presentation was a Huge Success

Jun 20, 2023 | The Sandpiper

On June 15th, the Great South Bay Audubon Society held its last meeting of the year at the Brookside County Park, where they showcased a live animal event presented by the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.

QWR presenters Cara Fernandes and Marisa Nelson, aptly handled a Red Tail Hawk named “Red” and a Great Horned Owl named “Hooter,” sharing their individual histories and many other important facts about these birds.

The event was attended by 20 or so members and guests and was a lovely evening in the serene environment of Brookside Park in Sayville.

On July 8th, the GSBAS is revamping their butterfly garden and removing non-native plants. They are in need of every type of volunteer! If you can help, please contact them at 631.563.7716 or info@greatsouthbayaudubonsociety.org.
