Harriers
During Audubon’s time all the way until the mid-twentieth century, it was considered a separate species (Marsh Hawk – Circus Hudsonius) from the similar harrier found throughout Eurasia (The Hen Harrier – Circus Cyaneus).
Montauk Point Walk Recap
Six participants, including field trip leader, braved the first really cold weather of the season (wind chills below 20 degrees early) for the chapter’s annual January field trip to Montauk and elsewhere on the south fork.
What’s Happened, What’s Happening, What Will Happen & What Won’t
We have had a busy few months. In August, Great South Bay Audubon stepped into the cultural arts realm and hosted Lumiere Ballet Russian Dance School at Brookside County Park as they performed “The Blue Bird of Happiness,” Lumiere’s ballet adaptation of Maurice Maeterlinck’s fairy play, “The Blue Bird.”
